1. Using this site

By using gentlecarat.com you accept these terms. If you do not, the site is free to leave and we will not be offended.

2. What the content is

Everything here is editorial opinion and compiled public information, published for general consumer guidance. Specifically, it is a record of what sellers and manufacturers state about their own products, plus our reading of what those statements mean.

It is not medical advice. Contact dermatitis, an infected piercing and a persistent skin reaction are all things to take to a clinician. Nothing on this site diagnoses anything, and no dermatologist is involved in writing it. See our editorial policy.

We have not tested these products. Our recommendations are based on published specifications, not on hands-on use. The full method is on the methodology page.

3. Accuracy, and its limits

We work hard to get this right and we correct errors in public. But listings change without notice, manufacturers revise specifications, and a product sold under the same name in January can be a different item by June. Always read the current listing before you buy, and treat anything here as a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Prices shown come from an automated feed, are stamped with the date they were checked, and are hidden entirely once they are more than 48 hours old. The retailer’s price at the moment of purchase is the only one that counts.

4. Affiliate links

The writing, the rubric and the layout of this site belong to us. You are welcome to quote a reasonable excerpt with a link back — that is how the web is supposed to work. Please do not republish whole pages. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used descriptively; no affiliation or endorsement is implied by their appearance here.

Photography on this site is licensed stock used illustratively. It does not depict products in our possession, and no image here should be read as a photograph of a specific recommended item.
