A hinged huggie hoop closes on itself, so there is no separate back component to be a different alloy — the metal you read about is the metal that touches you. That is a genuine structural advantage over a stud. The disadvantage is weight and movement: a hoop hangs and swings, which a healing or tender piercing likes less than a flush stud does.

That table is the whole argument for buying a huggie rather than a post-and-back hoop if your ears are the reason you are shopping. It is not about the hoop being safer metal — it is about there being one metal instead of two.

Weight is the second variable, and it is not an allergy

A 25mm hoop is a meaningfully heavier object than a 3mm stud, and it hangs from a piercing rather than resting in it. If your lobes get sore in hoops and not in studs, that is mechanics rather than metal, and no change of alloy will fix it.

Hoop diameter is far more personal than people expect and is almost impossible to judge from a product photo. Twelve millimeters reads as a huggie that sits tight to the lobe; twenty-five is a visible hoop that swings. Buying the range solves a problem no amount of reading solves.

The title carries both 'Pure Titanium' and 'G23', which are technically different things — G23 is the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, pure titanium is unalloyed. Sellers are loose about this.
